A poem for you--
A Walk on a Winter Afternoon
January 1, 2007
Lions Woods
Nature called to me this day,
Lulling me into her woods and open spaces
Where the Queen Sun speaks warm amber.
Her voice pronouncing long trails of golden rods
Smacking into my skin, nourishing me.
Health and life soaking deep.
Elegant and naked trees sleep in her discourse
Breaking up her words of light--blushing ribbons of bark.
But, oh, how she bends herself around those slender ladies
Continuing her coupling of faltering coral rays.
Finally, the Queen's words come to an end, I surmise.
I lift my nourished face to the sky,
Looking into the long eyelashes of the Lady Trees
And see the last rosy kisses of the Queen kissing them each a good evening.
Good evening, Queen Sun.
